Drink driver arrested in Famagusta

A 31-year-old man who was drink driving in Famagusta without car insurance or road tax was arrested in the morning hours on Wednesday.

Police said they stopped the man’s car for a check as part of traffic checks in the area, as he was driving on the Ayia Napa – Paralimni road around 3.10am.

The Famagusta resident underwent an alcohol test with an initial indication of 168μg instead of 22μg which is the maximum legal limit.

A second alcohol test showed a reading of 113μg, while further examinations showed the man was driving without a car insurance or road tax.

He was charged in writing and then released pending his court appearance.
