Larnaca district court on Wednesday ordered the eight-day remand of a 45-year-old man suspected of committing a series of crimes and traffic violations under investigation.

The man is suspected of committing burglaries in two Larnaca homes, stealing a car, abandoning a traffic collision, and other traffic violations.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday after a member of the public identified him from a photograph published by police.

According to the police report, the man is suspected of being involved in a traffic collision in Larnaca on May 7, when he crashed with another vehicle “in circumstances under review”, and then abandoned the scene.

An investigation showed that the car involved in the crash has been stolen on May 5 from its parking spot in Paphos.

Inside the car, police found several construction tools, some of which were thought to belong to the car’s owner.

“The rest are being further investigated to determine whether they have been stolen, as they match descriptions for several items reported as stolen from a Larnaca house.”

The 45-year-old faced Larnaca district court on Wednesday and was remanded for eight days while Kiti and Peyia police stations continue investigating.
