Man and woman arrested in Limassol after 2.5 kg of drugs discovered in briefcase

Police have arrested a 56-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman after 2.5 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in a briefcase that was hidden inside a cardboard box, Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported. 

According to police, following a tip-off, members of the drug squad intercepted the 56-year-old on Friday afternoon while he was in possession of the cardboard box.

During the ensuing search, a specially designed briefcase containing two packages of cocaine, weighing a total of about 2.5 kilograms, was found inside the box.

The 56-year-old was arrested for the offence while a 60-year-old woman, who is also allegedly involved in the case, was identified in the area.

The two suspects were re-arrested on the basis of court warrants and detained while Limassol police’s drug squad continues its examinations.
