A 31-year-old Paphos resident was arrested on Friday after cannabis and cocaine were found in his home, police said on Saturday.

According to a police statement, the man in question, after realising the police were looking for him, parked his car and fled on foot.

He was later intercepted by police and taken into custody.

A search of his home resulted in the discovery of three packages of cocaine with a total weight of 48g, three packages of cannabis with a total weight of 42g, as well as a high accuracy scale with traces of cannabis on it.

The 31-year-old was subsequently arrested on an arrest warrant and remanded in custody.

Also, during the attempt to stop him, a police officer fell from a height of about two metres, which resulted in him being injured.

The officer was then transported to Paphos General Hospital, where he was found to have suffered a fracture to his left arm.

The officer was later discharged after having received treatment.
