Exhibition turns Stasikratous into ocean blue

web

It might be in the heart of the city and miles away from the sea yet this Spring, a touch of ocean blue is coming to Stasikratous Street. How? Through a vibrant painting exhibition titled Our Sea, Brushstrokes of Inspiration and Knowledge that opens this Sunday. Organised by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, the exhibition welcomes sea and art lovers to explore the artwork exhibited until June 8.

The dates that the exhibition takes place are not accidental, nor do they simply signal the arrival of summer and sea activities. May 22 is World Biodiversity Day, June 5 is World Environment Day and June 8 is World Ocean Day. Combine them and you have a two-and-a-half week-long exhibition that celebrates the marine world and raises awareness about its environmental issues.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at 6pm this Sunday and until Wednesday 8, copies of the artwork will be displayed along Stasikratous Street, printed on large posters in panels in order to protect the pieces.
