Larnaca municipality continues mosquito control programme

Larnaca municipality’s health services has announced it is continuing to spray against mosquitoes.

“The spraying is carried out by Larnaca’s municipality health services team to reduce the mosquito population, protect public health and tackle the annoyance caused to locals and visitors,” the municipality press release.

“Special emphasis is placed in salt flat areas where there is large hatching of insects by employing biological insecticides due to the area’s protected status. Rainwater grates, open canals, inactive swimming pools and other areas with stagnant waters are also being sprayed,” the press release adds.

The municipality urges the public to also take their own measures by removing stagnant waters from their premises.

“The municipality invites the public to not keep containers, barrels and old water tanks in which large numbers of mosquitoes can hatch.”
