Arrest made after car stolen at knifepoint in Paphos (Updated)

A 28-year-old man has been remanded for seven days by the Paphos court on suspicion of stealing a scar at knifepoint.

His arrest came on Tuesday after a 44-year-old man reported to police that after leaving his workplace and entering his vehicle, which was parked nearby, a hooded man holding a knife got into the car and ordered him to drive.

After driving for a short distance, the perpetrator allegedly told the victim to stop and get out of the vehicle.

He then drove off.

Inside the vehicle was the victim’s wallet containing a small amount of money and credit cards, as well as his mobile phone.

The car was later traced to Aphrodite Hills.

Investigations pointed to the 28-year-old who was later arrested. Police said that although he denies involvement, a search of his home uncovered the keys of the stolen car, and a cannabis plant around one-metre high.
