Jazz nights at Vinylio

vinylio summer jazz project 2

Returning for the sixth edition is the Vinylio Summer Jazz Project which will bring a series of live music nights to the heart of Limassol. Across three evenings, musicians from Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Chile and Russia will take the floor of Vinylio Wine Etc, with two live bands scheduled for each night.

The programme begins on July 1 with the Origami Trio starting their set at 8.30pm. This is a Cypriot music ensemble with guitarist Ermis Michail, pianist Christos Yerolatsits and drummer Stelios Xydas. Another Cyprus-based band will then take the stage to bring lively Latin sounds from South America. The Caipirinha Brazilian Project consists of Alice Ayvazian, Alexis Kasinos, Alexandros Panagiotou and Marios Spyrou who will perform colourful Brazilian tunes from 10.15pm to 11.45pm.

Day two of the Vinylio Summer Jazz Project will kick off with the Criss Cross Trio which includes musicians from Europe and Cyprus. Christos Yerolatsitis will take the Vinylio stage again, this time joined by Italian drummer Marcello Spagnolo and Spanish double bassist Xavi Castillo. Up next will be a local popular ensemble playing bossa nova sounds and world music. Eleonora Roussou, Alexis Kasinos, Andreas Rodosthenous and Rodos Panagiotou will perform songs in Greek, English and Spanish accompanied by flute and melodica amongst other instruments.

July 3, the final evening of the project will welcome two more bands to the Limassol bar. First up is the Yemaya Son Cuarteto, a local quartet with Latin American musicians who live in Cyprus. The four musicians will bring music and melodies from Cuba to the bar. Wrapping up the three days of summer jazz evenings is the Leonid Nesterov Trio which will perform at 10.15pm ending the project with a live keyboards, double bass and drums set.
