Man arrested for assisting illegal entry

Police on Monday arrested a 23-year-old man, who was wanted on suspicion of assisting illegal entry into the Republic last year.

An arrest warrant was pending against the suspect for offences committed in October 2021. The crimes concern conspiracy to commit a crime, assisting illegal entry into the government-controlled areas and money laundering.

On Tuesday, the 23-year-old is expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court to be remanded.

A 32-year-old man is still wanted for the same case.
