Cannabis and cocaine, weighing 29 and eight grams, were found in the possession of a 16-year-old who caught the attention of police while riding a motorcycle in Limassol on Sunday night.

The minor was seen by Limassol traffic police, around 8pm, riding the bike without a helmet and using a mobile phone.

The teen failed to stop when signalled and tried to escape by picking up speed, after which he lost control of the motorcycle and fell to the ground.

He then tried to flee on foot but was blocked by a member of the police. The young man allegedly attacked the officer, who, with the help of his colleagues, proceeded to arrest him.

A search followed in which a bag containing 29 grams of cannabis and a quantity of white powder believed to be cocaine, weighing eight grams, were found.

The 16-year-old underwent a preliminary drug test, with a positive result. He was riding the motorcycle without a licence and insurance.

The teen was detained on the basis of drug possession, assault of a police officer, and traffic violations.
