Man wanted by Interpol arrested at Larnaca airport

A 34-year-old man who was being sought by Interpol and the Romanian authorities was arrested at Larnaca airport on Thursday afternoon after his flight, arriving from another European country, landed in Cyprus, police said on Friday.

According to a police statement, Interpol issued an arrest warrent against the man a few months ago.

He is due to serve three years and 10 months in jail in Romania for a hit-and-run incident.

The 34-year-old is currently in custody.

He will appear in front of the Larnaca district court on Friday before being extradited to Romania in the upcoming days.
