Three remanded for drugs, weapon possession (updated)

Three people, a 45-year-old man and two women, aged 32 and 35, were remanded in police custody for seven days on Friday by the Larnaca District court following their arrest for alleged possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of illegal firearms and possession of medicines without a prescription, police said on Friday.

A police statement said members of the drug squad searched the suspects’ houses on Thursday following a tip off.

In one of the houses, they found a gun, a cartridge containing six bullets, 107 loose bullets, seven individual packages containing a total of 18g of methamphetamine, 2g of cannabis and three precision scales.

In another house, officers found a total of 24.2g of methamphetamine, an empty cartridge, two precision scales and a large number of pills without a prescription.

Moreover, they also found 0.3g of methamphetamine in a car belonging to one of the two women.

All evidence has been seized by the police.

The three suspects were taken into custody and are due to be remanded by the Larnaca district court on Friday, while police continue their investigations.
