Fire breaks out in Akaki-Meniko area

A fire broke out on dry grass in an area between Akaki and Meniko villages at around 2pm on Monday.

According to fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis, the fire department responded to the forestry department’s call for help, dispatching two fire trucks from Nicosia district.

The forestry department and game service had also sent personnel. The area in question falls under the operational responsibility of the forestry department.
