Hunting dogs saved after timely finding of poison

A high number of poisoned bait traps were uncovered and removed by the game fund as it announced on Monday that by doing so it prevented the deaths of many hunting dogs.

Star of the show is the game fund’s sniffer dog which detected the poisoned bait, preventing many of its kin from being killed.

The game fund said that its detection unit found the bait on Sunday morning in Alassa, east of the dam, which is a popular hunting location.

“The area in question will be open to hunting dogs from 15/7 and it is estimated that many hunters with their dogs will go there in the coming days and a tragic situation would have unfolded had we not taken preventative action,” the service said.
