A yellow weather warning has been issued for Wednesday’s “extremely high” temperatures between 11am and 4pm, with temperatures set to hit 40C inland.

“It’s likely that there may be danger to the health of those who are vulnerable such as the elderly and smaller children,” the meteorological office said on Tuesday.

It further called on the public to be aware of the heightened temperatures, while other weather reports indicated that Thursday is also set to be a scorcher.

The interior is set to be hit hardest with about 37C to 40C temperatures.

Elsewhere on Thursday, temperature will be slightly above the seasonal average, with about 32C to 35C along the coasts and 26C in the mountainous communities.
