Two arrested on suspicion of theft

Two Larnaca men aged 36 have been arrested on suspicions of illegal possession of property, police said on Monday.

According to police, around 7.30pm on Sunday they received a tip-off that a car with two men was acting suspiciously in a supermarket car park and that one of the occupants was a wanted person.

Officers went to the scene and located the car. They confirmed that one of the occupants had a warrant pending against him on suspicion of theft.

During a search of the vehicle, a water boiler was found, the origin of which the two men did not adequately explain. The two were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of property.

According to police one of the men is also being investigated for attempted theft, malicious damage and theft of money from water vending machines between February 5 and August 2 in Larnaca.
