OPAP Protaras 3×3 2022 delivers hoop dreams for fans

Over the August 6-7 weekend, spectators flocked to Protaras’ central square to enjoy the fourth edition of the OPAP Cyprus 3×3 2022 basketball tournament.

Accompanied by beats courtesy of DJ Bkas, local and overseas participating teams offered the public a unique, action-packed spectacle from qualifiers to finals.

The big winners of the OPAP Men category were Cyprus’ El Manos team, who won 21-12 against the 3×3 Freiburg team from Germany.

“We are happy that through the event we are promoting to foreign visitors that Cyprus can host official events such as the OPAP Protaras 3×3, with the participation of teams from abroad,” said Euripides Manoullos, speaking on behalf of the organisers.

“Now our attention is focused on the Capital’s event, where, over September 2-4, the OPAP Nicosia 3×3 will be hosted,” he continued.

“Our goal is a grand finale of the OPAP Cyprus 3×3 2022 events where, in addition to the basketball activities, we aspire to offer – to both the public and participants – unique moments with the music of DJs Mighty Scoop & Pueblo Franco on Saturday night at the open party, which will take place at the D’Avila Moat.

“Lots of surprises and competitions will accompany the last event of the year,” he added. “We look forward to having you with us.”

For his part, First Vice President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, Marcos Clerides, expressed his satisfaction for the tournament’s excellent organisation.

“We enjoyed a great event in the crowded central square of Protaras, in the presence of our compatriots and foreigners,” he said. “It is the best advertisement for the sport and the Municipality of Paralimni, as, through such official international events, we lay solid foundations to promote alternative forms of healthy tourism, such as sport, while enriching our tourism offering.”

On behalf of OPAP Cyprus, Charalambos Christou, member of the Board of Directors, noted that “another beautiful celebration of sport, especially basketball 3×3, took place with great success, filling us with joy and satisfaction”. Organisers had once again delivered an excellent event, he continued, “and as OPAP Cyprus, we congratulate them for their quality and professionalism”.
