A car fire which broke out at dawn on Tuesday in ​​Limassol was caused by arson, police have confirmed.

According to the statement, the fire was noticed around 4 am, while the vehicle was parked in the covered parking area of ​​the 48-year-old owner’s house in Ypsonas.

The fire service sped to the scene and extinguished the fire, while preliminary tests revealed that it was set maliciously with the use of flammable material.

The fire caused extensive damages to the car as well as to the wooden canopy above it, the value of which has not yet been calculated.

The scene was cordoned off and investigations continue.
