State lists irrecoverable debts

Inland Revenue Department

The state treasury on Monday published the amount of irrecoverable public moneys and items for 2021, which come to €2.477 million.

The treasury writes off various dues to the state for the past fiscal year. These include taxes which are deemed irrecoverable – for example in cases of persons deceased, or where a company owing taxes has since been de-listed and has no assets.

Other items include property stolen – police speedometers, army-issue rifles – for which an investigation took place and they were deemed to be irretrievable.

In 2021 the value of state property stolen and deemed irrecoverable was €11,389.
