Paphos traffic police recorded 82 traffic violations during a coordinated operation in the last 24 hours.

According to Paphos CID chief and spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, traffic police carried out multiple traffic checks in the city and on the secondary road network with a view to preventing road accidents.

In that context, 82 traffic violations were recorded, of which four concerned driving under the influence of alcohol and two under the influence of narcotic substances.

On Tuesday at approximately 8.15pm Paphos traffic police and crime prevention squad stopped a vehicle for a check and found that the 28-year-old driver had cannabis in his possession and had also tested positive on the narco-test.

He was arrested, charged and released.

The remaining cases concerned lesser violations.

Coordinated operations will continue further, according to Nicolaou.
