Man arrested for drink driving and speeding

Police on Thursday said they arrested a 31-year-old for drunk driving over twice the limit and speeding over twice the limit on the highway.

According to police, the man was stopped on the Nicosia-Limassol highway just after midnight on Thursday.

Police said the man was driving at over twice the speed limit at 258 km per hour instead of 100 km per hour.

The man was then asked to take an alcohol test, which registered at 48 μg instead of the allowed 22 μg.

Police arrested the man and took him to the station for booking, where he was charged in writing and released.

The man will appear in Nicosia district later Thursday.
