Drug squad find 43g of cannabis in the mail

A package was found containing 43 g of cannabis at a mail collection centre by the police drug squad, Ykan, authorities said on Thursday.

According to police, the package was found on September 20 after examinations done by the customs department on packages that had arrived in Cyprus and were in a mail collection facility.

The package was seized on Tuesday and turned over to the drug squad for police investigations.

Police said that on Wednesday, Ykan members found the recipient of the package, who is a 24-year-old man, who alleged that the package was meant for him.

Following initial questioning, the man was released and will be called in at a later date, once the drug squad have completed all their investigations.
