Spike in number of motorists caught drink-driving in Paphos on Saturday night

Police said it recorded an unprecedented number of motorists booked for driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night in the Paphos district.

Paphos police carried out 193 vehicle checks, which resulted in 65 traffic fines. Of these, 29 cases involved drivers under the influence of alcohol. In addition, two underage drivers were identified and reported, their vehicles were impounded and their parents will be charged.

Meanwhile, in last night’s coordinated operation by Paphos police to combat noise pollution, the managers of eleven entertainment venues were also reported, for allegedly violating the leisure and entertainment venue law, mainly regarding the broadcasting of music outdoors.
