A 46-year-old man was slapped with a €1,200 fine and a two-year pitch ban by the Paphos district court on Monday.

The sentence was handed down after he was found guilty of riotous behaviour during a football match in March, in which he attacked a person and caused bodily harm, damaged property and illegally entered the sporting premises.

The man was identified by the police after they studied CCTV footage near the scene of the attack, which occurred just before a match at the Stelios Kyriakides stadium in Paphos.
