Pensioners protested in the capital on Tuesday as they accused the government of not doing enough to protect them amid inflation and other cost of living challenges.

The Nicosia branch of the Union of Cypriot Pensioners (Ekysy) decried the government’s “indifference” as the group held an urgent meeting to discuss their issues.

The pensioners warned that they will take “dynamic measures” unless solutions are proposed and action taken by the government, although the group did not clarify what those measures may entail.

Members of the group held banners and placards with slogans such as: “We demand the restoration of our rights and a dignified life” and “The government’s mockery of pensioners must end.”
