Woman critical after knocked down on Limassol street

A 30-year Hungarian national is in critical condition and intubated at Nicosia general hospital after she was hit by a car in Limassol on Thursday afternoon.

According to a police statement, the woman was crossing the busy Franklin Roosevelt Avenue in central Limassol when she was hit by a car driven by a 45-year-old woman.

“We are now examining footage to better understand the dynamic of the accident and the behaviour of both the driver and the pedestrian,” Limassol police spokesperson Emilios Kafas said.

The driver was arrested, breathalysed and tested for drugs. Her tests came back negative.

According to the police, the victim has suffered a severe brain injury and is being treated for a brain hematoma.

Her doctors described her condition as extremely critical.
