Man caught stealing car in Limassol

A 36-year-old man in Limassol was arrested after he was caught trying to steal a car, police said on Saturday.

The man was trying to steal a car parked outside the owners’ home in Kato Polemidia at around 3am. The owners caught wind of what was going on and ran outside demanding to know what was going on.

According to the couple’s testimony, the suspect brandished a knife at them to scare them, however it appears they managed to immobilise himand called police.

Police said a knife was not found in the man’s possession however they are searching the area to see if they can find one.

The 36-year-old is expected to go to court for remand.
