Construction of new Cyprus museum begins on December 12

The old general hospital was demolished in 2010, but some state offices still exist on the site

Parking at the old Nicosia hospital ends on Monday, December 12 as construction of the new Cyprus Museum begins.

“On Monday 12 December 2022 the department of public works will proceed to close all accesses to the section where the New Cyprus Museum will be erected (site of the old Nicosia Hospital opposite the House of Representatives), which is enclosed by the streets Chilonos and Nehru, as construction work begins,” according to an announcement by the Department of Public Works.

As of Monday, December 12 the use of the lot in question as a free parking space for the public ends. It further states that vehicle owners who have vehicles parked in the parking lot should remove them by midnight on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the latest.
