A photography exhibition with a special cause

hope within

Exhibit8 Gallery’s next exhibition is a special one, one with a cause. The Hope Within exhibition, running on Sunday 11 and Monday 12 at the Limassol Gallery features photos by Philip Athinodorou who is currently battling leukaemia in Germany. The exhibition is his first-ever showcase and the proceeds will go towards supporting his healing journey.

“As many of you may know,” say the exhibition organisers, “Philip, as a tireless fighter, is fighting his own battle with leukaemia for the third time. Still in Germany and in the middle of a very difficult journey for him, he decided to organise his first personal photography exhibition. The reason that led him to this decision was first of all his strong will to keep himself ‘alive’ and creative, but also to be able to emerge victorious in the fight that he started this third time. A struggle whose ultimate goal is for Philip to return home, to his family and to be able to embrace his young son again.”

During the opening event of the exhibition on Sunday 11, a street party will take place from 2pm to 11pm serving mulled wine, cocktails and street food, accompanied by tunes from DJs. On for just two days, the exhibition invites the public to explore Philip’s photographs and support him with his leukaemia treatment.

“Helping your fellow human beings is certainly a beautiful thing,” conclude the exhibition organisers, “but when it is done with joy and with all your heart, then it is a blessing!”
