Strovolos municipality slams vandalism at local park

Strovolos municipality on Thursday denounced the destruction of the municipal park on Agiou Sergios Street (Dafni estate) by vandals and appealed for respect towards public property.

In a statement the municipality said that it was informed by the fire brigade and Strovolos police department about the incident.

“Strangers destroyed the park’s playground after removing the safety ground coverings, throwing them into a pile and burning them. A total of 172 square metres of covering and two wooden frame swings have been destroyed. The cost of repairing the damage is estimated to be €12,000,” it said.

The same park has been vandalised and destroyed many times, while the municipality has from time to time informed the police to take measures.

Strovolos municipality condemned the attack and called on the police to carry out more frequent patrols to prevent such delinquent behaviour and prevent vandalism.
