Members of the YKAN drug squad conducted a search today, pursuant to a court warrant, at the home of the 18-year-old, during which a quantity of cannabis, totalling about 130 grams, was located and seized.

A shotgun that was stolen from a residence in Famagusta province was located by the police, who also proceeded to arrest a 20-year-old man, suspected of breaking into the residence, and stealing the shotgun.

The burglary of the house – the owner of which was absent abroad – was reported to the Famagusta police last Tuesday by a friend of the homeowner, who, however, had not noticed and did not report the theft of the gun. According to the filed complaint, household appliances, with a total value of €1,000, and a small amount of cash were stolen from the residence.

As part of the investigation of the burglary and theft case, police subjected the 20-year-old suspect to a check, who confessed to the house burglary and the theft of the shotgun. Subsequently, the suspect indicated to police where he hid the missing firearm.

After a search of the premises, police located the weapon, which revealed that it belonged to the owner of the recently burgled house.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody for the purposes of investigating the case.
