January brings laughs with it

Looking to beat the January blues, a series of comedy nights are taking place in Nicosia to help spread some laughter. Beloved comedians from Greece are heading to the island at the beginning of 2023 to share hilarious tales and comic spins on life today.

Actress, presenter, YouTuber and stand-up comedian Sofia Moutidou will return to Cyprus’ stage for another series of comedy shows in January and February at Nicosia’s DownTown Live and Limassol’s Sto Perama.

After her sold-out summer shows in Greece and Cyprus, Moutidou will be back to celebrate her 10-year career in stand-up comedy through eight unique performances. Her 10 Years of Sofia show collects the best monologues and the hottest moments from her performances that made thousands of viewers laugh in Greece, Cyprus and beyond.

Beginning her Cyprus shows is a performance at DownTown Live on January 7 with repeated performances on January 21, 28 and February 4. In Limassol, she will entertain audiences at Sto Perama on January 6, 20 and 27 and February 3. Tickets cost €20 and €1 from each ticket will be donated for the financial support of the Pan Cyprian Association of Rare Genetic Diseases Unique Smiles.

Continuing the stand-up comedy nights is another short series by Dimitris Christoforides. After two seasons in Athens, the Greek comedian is coming to Cyprus for the first time. His Lost Generation show is dedicated to the children of his generation, today’s 40-year-olds who have suffered so much for 15 years from repeated crises. His one-hour show aims to spread laughter and optimism against the tough times many experience today. First, he will address Limassol audiences with a show at Ravens Music Hall on January 26 and on the following event he will take over Cine Studio in Nicosia.
