Members of the Hands Across the Divide bi-communal organisation are putting together a new Cyprus Storytelling event this month, inviting women from across the island to join them. On Thursday at the Home for Cooperation, the afternoon event will welcome females from the island’s various communities to come together, share their stories and insights and support each other as women.

“This is more than a workshop,” say organisers, “it is the creation of a safe space, created by women for women. This is a space where women can find their voices and are welcomed to be exactly who they are, to come as they are, and to be seen and heard.

“During our time together,” they add, “the facilitators will divide people up into small groups. Each person will have the opportunity to talk about a theme of their choice from the perspective of their own unique experience. We ask that you speak from your heart and not your intellect.”

Facilitated by Rita Hadjigeorgiou, Sue Lartides and Katie Economides, the event will last from 6pm to 8pm and is free to attend. Places are limited however and those interested in joining the session should reserve a place by sending an email to [email protected].
