A fire that broke out on five national guard vehicles in Polemidia this week was caused due to a short circuit, police said on Saturday.

Limassol CID said that following examinations by experts of the authority as well as the fire service and members of the national guard, it was established that a light fixture on the roof of where the vehicles were kept overheated and then fell on one of the cars.

This started the fire on Friday, which then spread to other vehicles that were destroyed.
