Wanting to make culture accessible to all, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation has launched the programme Aisthiseis which is made up of multi-sensory experiences taking place until the end of the month. A series of activities that aim to engage all visitors, handicapped or vulnerable in particular, is taking place throughout January while the foundation makes permanent changes to its museums to promote and facilitate the participation of all people in culture.

“This effort,” say the programme organisers, “reflects the belief espoused by both the Cultural Foundation and Bank of Cyprus that every society is defined primarily by its culture — and in culture no one is redundant, and no one should be prevented from offering their light for the benefit of society.”

Three events have already taken place at the Foundation and three more are coming up. On January 27, a ceramic workshop for the elderly by local artist Souzana Petri will take place. The workshop, as with all of the events of Aisthiseis, is free of charge and requires pre-booking. On the following day a morning session with Elenitsa Georgiou will focus on fairy tales and storytelling for pregnant women. Lastly, on January 29 and concluding the events, a multisensory tour of the Foundation by Ioanna Panteli will take place at 11am and will include Cypriot sign language interpretation by Thekla Eleftheriou.
