The health ministry is organising a free first aid webinar this weekend in collaboration with the humanitarian organisation Kids Save Lives.

Every year, 350,000 people suffer cardiac arrest in Europe. “The immediate initiation of CPR by bystanders, the timely use of an automatic external defibrillator and the use of innovative information and activation application by certified first responders dramatically increases the survival rate of victims 50-70 per cent,” the relevant announcement said.

The iSAVElives First Responder Education seminar is addressed to all age groups and will take place this Sunday from 6 to 9.30pm.

It is provided free of charge, to prepare residents to activate and participate in the innovative iSAVElives application expected to launch this month.

The webinar supports up to 1,000 connections and pre-registration is required at the link https://kidssavelives.gr/isavelives-free-webinar/. Those who will attend are invited to log in by 5.45pm.

Prior to attending the training, it is recommended to watch the Basic Life Support video https://tinyurl.com/62ayz7cw, on the KIDS SAVE LIVES YouTube channel, which teaches in a simple way how each bystander can deal with a cardiac arrest victim.

It is also recommended to record and watch 70 additional training videos on how to deal with choking, drowning, unconscious victim and seizure convulsions  among others. The seminar can also be attended by children (usually over 11 years old), for which instructions are available at https://kidssavelives.gr/ diasosi/

iSAVElives app aims to reduce the response time to life-threatening incidents.

It communicates with competent emergency services, alerts and mobilises first responders and provides them with navigation instructions to the victim’s location and the nearest available Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). It also leads bystanders through guided CPR using visual and audio cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
