Interior Minister Nicos Nouris on Wednesday will inform cabinet about the damages to homes and buildings in the Famagusta and Larnaca districts that were flooded during weekend rainstorms.

The district authorities recorded all the damages, and an initial estimation was made about all the buildings that were affected by the storms.

Nouris will lead a discussion based on these estimations, and the cabinet is then expected to discuss ways to aid the people, whose properties were damaged.

Priority will be given to people, whose primary residence is in the area.

Cabinet is also expected to discuss the Akamas plan.

Speaking to state broadcaster CyBC on Monday, Nouris said that it has not been yet decided whether the details of the plan will be made public immediately after the cabinet meeting.

Kadis, for his part, said that changes to the proposed plan need to be discussed and thoroughly examined before being released.

“If and where there will be changes to the plan, that will be determined during the council and in accordance with the opinions provided by the Environmental Authority,” Kadis said, echoing Nouris.
