January 28 final day to bet on presidential elections

our view the three main contenders before thursday nights debate

Bets on the presidential elections will be closed from January 28 onwards, the national betting authority announced on Thursday.

Candidate Nikos Christodoulides remains the bookies’ favourite as his odds to win the elections are listed 1.22/1, according to Stoiximan – which had him at 1.45/1 back in mid-October.

That means betting five euros on Christodoulides would return €6.10 if he were to win.

Next is Disy’s Averof Neophytou at 3.50/1, followed by Akel-backed Andreas Mavroyiannis with 7.00/1.

The outlier candidates are Achilleas Demetriades (40.00/1), Christos Christou (80.00/1) and and Giorgos Kolokasides (80.00/1).
