Public can buy cheaper energy efficient air-conditioning units

Applications can be made to the consumer protection association to buy modern, more energy efficient air conditioning units.

Marios Drousiotis, president of the association, said that applications can be made at www.klimatistika.cy.

The website also offers tools for the public to analyse the likely benefit from the energy efficiency difference.

Drousiotis explained on Monday that the association aims to buy about 250 units which it will do so on behalf of individuals. The reasoning is that people will get cheaper units if the association makes a bulk purchase.

He added that the number of units on offer may rise depending on availability and interest.

Successful applicants will be contacted within a few weeks when they will be informed of the price and process and can then decide if they want to proceed with the purchase. The price will include installation costs.

Drousiotis said a similar programme will be launched at a later date for photovoltaic systems.
