Finance Minister to participate in Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings in Brussels

Finance Minister Makis Keravnos will travel to Brussels this Sunday to participate in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings.

According to a press release issued by the Finance Ministry, Keravnos will participate on Monday in the meeting of the Eurozone Finance Ministers, who will discuss the macroeconomic growth in the Eurozone on the basis of the EU Spring Economic Forecast. The Ministers will exchange views on the future structural challenges for the businesses in light of growing geopolitical tensions.

On Tuesday, the Finance Minister will represent Cyprus at the Ecofin meeting, where the EU will present its proposals regarding the review of the framework for the management of banking crises and the deposits insurance.

Moreover, the Council will be briefed by the EU regarding the implementation of the sanctions against Russia, focusing on the possible infringement of the restrictive measures regarding cargo exports and imports.

The EU will also inform the Ministers regarding the course of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plans and the Ministers will have the chance to exchange views.

The Council will be informed on the results of the meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Banks Governors, as well as about the results of the IMF spring sessions.
