Fruitless search for energy saving funds

letters 1 grammata

I write simply to share my experience with readers which might be a unique occurrence or widespread.

Sometime ago, the Cyprus Mail published an informative article about energy saving and the Cyprus government scheme to take advantage of significant EU sums.

There was a scheme to retrofit properties with hight-tech solar equipment and power saving devices. This would have a knock-on effect of reducing the outrageous electricity costs now burdening us all.

The scheme basically paid 50 per cent of installation costs to householders. EU money, not Cyprus money.

I have pursued further information from as many relevant government sources but received not even the courtesy of a reply.

I wondered if Cyprus ever took the EU money and where had it gone?

I certainly can’t get my hands on any contributions, let alone any information.
