Larnaca police investigating car fire

Police in Larnaca on Friday are investigating a car fire which broke out overnight.

According to the police, the fire started in a parked vehicle owned by a 22-year-old woman, shortly before 1am in Kiti.

According to the fire service, the vehicle was parked in an open area and suffered extensive damage. Two adjacent vehicles were also damaged by the heat emitted.

Three fully-staffed fire engines were sent to the scene from Larnaca and firefighters extinguished the blaze by 1.12am.

Police cordoned off the scene which was placed under guard and investigations to establish the cause of the fire are being carried out by police, the fire department and the electromechanical service.
