The Ayia Napa sewerage board is on track with improvement works in two more locations, it was announced on Tuesday.

According to the announcement by the municipality, the works are set to modernise the town’s central sewerage system and will affect Ayia Varvara and Filina streets.

Following the announcement of tenders and the selection of the contracting company, the President of the Sewerage Council of Ayia Napa (S.A.A.N), Mayor Christos Zannettou, and the Technical Director Niki Moulazimis Tsangaridou signed the contract last week.

According to the terms of the contract, the project, awarded to Adelphi Katsiou Ltd, will be completed in a period of six months and its cost amounts to approximately €925,000 plus VAT.

“The sewerage council is proceeding for the second time with construction of a sewerage, irrigation and water supply system in two more areas […] so that all areas of the municipality of Ayia Napa are served […] which will contribute to drinking water conservation and protecting the city’s environment,” the mayor said, following the signing.

He also added that despite difficulties and the economic crisis projects continue to develop the city and upgrading residents’ quality of life.
