Man arrested on suspicion of possessing child porn

Nicosia police have arrested a man aged 33 on suspicion of the possession and distribution of child pornography, they said.

The investigation into the case began after information was received through Europol that a user of an account on a social networking platform had sent material of child sexual abuse to other users of the same platform.

The information pointed to the suspect, police said. On Saturday, he was located and arrested.

A search of the suspect’s residence, property and vehicle resulted in the discovery of a laptop and a mobile phone, which were seized for forensic examination.
