Nine vehicles impounded in Limassol during traffic checks

Nine vehicles, six motorcycles and three cars, were impounded by Limassol police during a coordinated traffic operation on Saturday night.

The operation was implemented as part of ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents as well as dealing with the nuisance of souped-up cars and bikes, police said.

During the operation, 94 drivers were booked for traffic violations and the nine vehicles seized.

Among the violations were 38 for driving under the influence, five motorists had no licence and nine without insurance. Another three did not have a valid MOT cert.

Another 17 bookings were recorded for speeding, and eight for ignoring red traffic lights.
