A Russian man who is listed on Interpol’s wanted list has been found and arrested in the north.

Stanislav Mitrushi was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police in Trikomo on Monday having lived in the north since 2018.

According to Turkish Cypriot police on Thursday, Mitrushi first entered the north in 2015, before leaving in 2018, and returning via the Pergamos crossing point the same year using a fake Albanian passport.

Turkish Cypriot police say that he acquired ‘TRNC’-issued residence permit and bought “a lot of” real estate in the north, and had remained there ever since.

Mitrushi’s house was searched following his arrest, with Turkish Cypriot police confirming that they found two computers, five mobile phones, and multiple USB sticks, as well as over 150,000 pounds sterling and 120,000 US dollars in cash.

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in court on Friday.
