A 16-year-old has been hospitalised with a fractured skull after she fell out of the boot of a car which was being driven by a 16-year-old friend.

Police said on Tuesday that the incident occurred at the Tasos parking lot of the Markou stadium in Paralimni, when one of a group of five teens was driving the car.

Three teens fell out of the boot after the underage driver lost control of the vehicle.

The two other girls who fell out of the car sustained only light injuries, but the third is being cared for at the Nicosia general hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

Doctors have described her situation as serious but stable.

Police added that the incident, which occurred at around 11pm on Saturday night, involved a jeep type car.
