It has been over a month since Larnaca Biennale 2023 began, spreading artistic events and insightful discussions around the region. Artists, visitors, locals, children and adults have been made part of this edition attending specially-curated events and exhibitions, travelling to the moon, the metaverse and the deepest corners of the nostalgic mind. The Closing Week of the Biennale is here, with two more events that conclude the discussion of Home Away from Home.

As of Monday, an event in Athienou brings together the worlds of children and the elderly. Guided by their creativity, children aged 7-15 were asked to paint and create what their home would be like if they didn’t remember it. What their mind would look like if it was worn out and how their brain neurones work. The results of their creativity will be presented in an art exhibition titled What Will Your Home Be If You Don’t Remember It? that centres on the theme of Alzheimer’s disease and will run at the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum until December 31.

Then on Thursday evening, a cinema night will conclude the Larnaca Biennale activities. The third of a series of film nights by Once In a Blue Moon and Cinebur will take place at Kleidi Cafe Bar. The Open-Air Cinema experience will present six short films that centre on the theme Home Sweet Home, finding the similarities between the stories of a Japanese immigrant, a workaholic plant, a Chinese international student, a grieving daughter, and a Colombian maid who all search for home. The screenings will start on time at 8.30pm and include subtitles in English.

Coming to the end of this edition, the Larnaca Biennale organisers say: “Thank you for joining and supporting Larnaca Biennale. Until next time, we are recharging, and reflecting on our experiences of Home, impacted by the thousands of visitors and artists who took part. While we present the finishing touches of this edition, work is already underway for the next one. We will be back… in 2025!”
