New government website ‘a node for the public’

The government on Tuesday announced the launch of a website that it says will serve as a node for interaction with the public.

According to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis the new website – diakivernisi.gov.cy – will help foster people’s trust in government and “promote the building of a more transparent, accountable and participatory state.”

The word ‘diakivernisi’ in Greek means governance.

Initially the website will function as “the central digital point of reference about the government’s actions and policies,” the spokesman added.

For now, the new website features two sections – one with information on the package of measures aimed at containing the rising cost of living, the other detailing the 2024 action plans of the various ministries with a cost breakdown.

Over time, said Letymbiotis, the website will be developed and updated so that “it becomes a digital portal for two-way communication between the government and society.”
