Man arrested for stealing five chocolate bars in Kapouti

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Kapouti on suspicion of stealing five chocolate bars from a shop in the village.

He appeared in court in Morphou on Wednesday, where police officer Ahmet Sonat said the man had entered the shop between 4.15pm and 4.40pm, stuffed a total of 250TL (€7.88) worth of chocolate into a bag, and then left the shop without paying.

The suspect said he was “very sorry for committing the theft”.

Police took the chocolate bars as evidence, and the man was released on a 100,000 TL (€3,152) bail and banned from leaving the north, having all his travel documents confiscated.

Additionally, he must present himself to his local police station once a week,
